And speaking of Pioneer Day...

Our choir sang these words today...
"Whenever I think about pioneers,
I think of brave women and men.
I like to remember that children came, too;
I would like to have been a child then."*

Really?
I don't know about you, but I would have picked another time.
Like, the 50's.
But I guess that wouldn't make for a good song.
Especially in church.

*Yes, Yes, I like that song too, but that line always amazes me.

I know right? With all those frozen feet and eating buffalo fat. Surely there must have been a better time to be child.

I didn't know that.

I would have been a murmuring pioneer.

LOL! Never thought about it but now will think of it every time I hear it. I also don't believe the children did too much singing while they walked and walked and walked and walked....my guess is either they were complaining or they were silent....but that's just me. Thanks for the laugh.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who looks cross-eyed at that line in the song.

Had I been born during any time when I had to fend for myself and live off what I could do with my own two hands, natural selection would have easily weeded me out of the gene pool.

Sickness, death, exhaustion, Indian ambushes, constant hunger......are all equal parts of a recipe for childhood F-U-N!

Never thought of that, but it's true!

Yeah the 50's would've been cool. Although I would've hated having to walk uphill EVERYwhere.
