they never look the same in photographs as they do in real life.
I know, right?
I take a picture of our tree every year, and every year, I'm sure my tree is more gorgeous than what I have photographed.
Now I'm thinking maybe it's not.
Maybe I just better come to grips with things.
Or maybe it's because I am not a good photographer, and that's why my tree always looks bad.
I've gotten a lot of compliments on my tree this year.
Now I'm thinking maybe it looked so bad, they thought they better compliment it.
Kind of like Charlie Brown's tree.
"Poor Charlie!"
"Let's compliment him!"
Pity compliments.
"Well she tried, gosh darn it!"
We went in a different direction this time.
Oh yes, we did.
Instead of the traditional green, with mish mash ornaments, we turned around and went the other way.
We we white, flocked, with blue, silver and white ornaments.
"Um, ew..."
Wait! Before you say that, let me just tell you that is exactly what I thought when the idea was mentioned.
It made me want to vomit.
I was thinking fake, WalMart, plastic white tree with hideous mismatched blue ornaments.
Made me feel like the time we were in the hot van, going around curves listening to "Landslide" by Carly Simon while my girls ate sushi in the back seat.
Yes, exactly like that.
But I went with it.
Because I'm nice like that.
We went to a place that sold fresh cut, flocked trees, and I thought I had landed in a magical forest.
It was seriously cool.
We ended up bringing home a huge, white, flocked, glitter tree.
"Uh, glitter tree?"
Yes, it had glitter on it.
Which meant every time we have to plug it in, we come out looking like a decked-out abominable snowman.
Very nice.
