The things I think while doing dishes...

Who decides what words are uncool?
Really, I'd like to know.
Who decided that the word "dandy" should just go away?
It's gone because your Grandma said it, and she wasn't cool?
Maybe your Grandma was cool,
and you're the one that doesn't know diddly, Jack!

I'm just sayin'.
I've single-handedly tried to keep "golly" alive, and it's rough.
People look at me like I'm the nerd.
What's that all about?

Firstborn has a friend who would say "holy moly". It was really cute, bu that was way back in elementary school, now the kid is like 6 feet tall and barely says 2 words :)

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but they are not looking at you that way because you said "golly". It is because you said "Golly! That was good sushi!" and you had four pieces! FOUR PIECES! It is gluttony that gotcha that look!

You mean all those times I've said, "that's just dandy" I've been embarrassing myself? Besides, it is so much easier than saying metrosexual.

I didn't hear "dandy" for I don't know how many years, and then a few years ago, I read in "Taste of Home" magazine that a cleaned-out tuna fish can makes a "dandy biscuit cutter." And I thought, OK, I guess I'm a dandy little grandma now, because I'm obviously reading a dandy little grandma magazine.

Isn't that dandy.

It's one of those words like "boot" or "was" that loses its meaning if you say it a whole bunch of times.
